Transferring of an officer into Panvel Tehsil office as Naib Tehsildar and Rationing officer creates controversy in Panvel. Major political parties showed their dissatisfaction in the new appointment, as they argue that the new officer creates problems and controversy. Some also allege that the transfer of the officer happened before the allowed time. Shashikant Waghmare was transferred from Karjat to Panvel as new Naib Tehsildar and Rationing officer. Interestingly he has been transferred three times in a year. Usually transfer of an officer happens once in 3 years. This unusual transferring has created confusion and controversies in corridors of power.
Sources close to the officer informed that the political parties are against the transfer as they fear Shashikant Waghmare, because he involved in raiding many offices and arresting many politicians and journalists who make illegalities in rationing. Earlier the officer was transferred from Konkan Bhavan to Karjat and then now to Panvel. Panvel wing of MNS had submitted a request to Chief Minister against the expected transfer of the officer one week earlier.
Shashikant Waghmare, the officer involved in the controversy said “I fought against black marketing and always stood for transparency and truth. I raided ration shops and establishments when I found them corrupted. I also sent many people to jail who violate the laws. Actually those who create controversy about my transfer fear me as they anticipate action against their ration business from my side. Whenever people and poor villagers come with a genuine problem, I used to sort out the issues.”
Bharat Patil, Raigad district congress Chief, is planning to file a petition in High Court against the transfer. “If anyone raises the issue next assembly session, I will see the outcome, or else I will file a petition in High Court against the transfer. He alleged that while the officer was in Karjat he was involved in the controversy and other issues. Bharat Patil, Raigad District Congress Chief. “According Maharashtra Government Service act, an officer cannot be transferred without completing a three year term. Rationing Officer Shashikant Waghmare has been transferred three times in a year. Now he has been transferred to Panvel as the rationing officer. The officer is related to some rationing rackets, and the transfer was accelerated by such rackets.”
Mathar Madav, deputy Chairman of MNS, said “the officer should be allowed to sit in Panvel Tehsil, as he is involved in many controversy and problems. He becomes a headache of every one under his jurisdiction. Government should immediately withdraw this transfer. We doubt that some rationing lobby is working behind him.”
