Even after providing good roads with wide space, Sion Panvel Highway near to Panvel andKalamboli faces crucial traffic congestions. Commuters disobeying traffic rules aredisturbing the normal functioning of traffic. Kalamboli circle, High way leads to Panvel are becoming common victims for traffic congestions. Particularly during peak hours of evening, circles and junctions are witnessing a mess of vehicles with uncontrollable traffic. Presence of huge trucks and and heavy vehicles also create problems for traffic.

Basic traffic rules are not followed by the people, even after implementing traffic signals and policemen in charge” said a traffic official of Kalamboli Police station. Kalamboli circle is wide and able to hold any big flow of vehicles, but are found congested during evenings, due to ill management. Big trucks and heavy vehicles from nearby industrial area are increasing problems.
Traffic signals are installed in Khanda colony and Panvel industrial estate Junctions of Sion Panvel Highway, but are little obeyed by drivers. This has lead to minor accidents and traffic problems in the areas. Even after developing infrastructure with good bridges and better roads, a lack of mismanagement is complicating traffics of Sion Panvel Highway in Panvel and Kalamboli.
Most of the drivers use to ignore traffic signals or instructions, as most vehicles run in ahurry. Wide roads with smoothly escalated roads offers speedy journey, but notcontrolled in junctions or circles. Residents need more speed breakers and punishmentsfor those violating traffic rules. “Sion Panvel Highway of Panvel and Kalamboli certainly offers wide and smooth roads, but are not managed well. Damage free roads offersspeedy journey, but speed need to be controlled in junctions to unravel the situation” said Renith Raju, a resident of Panvel.
Residents want more police officials to look after such traffic congestions. “There is no such big traffic problems, that can’t be managed by good traffic police and responsiblecitizens. We already have good roads and infrastructure, but need to be managed well. Police official should be more careful in managing traffic and controlling speedy vehiclesin junctions. Drivers with good civic sense will submit themselves to traffic rules and signals that we already have. Any violation should get punishments’ Said Blesson Kujummen, a resident of Kalamboli.
Sudarshan Patil, Assistant police inspector of Kalamboli Police station, said ‘number ofvehicles in the area is increasing day by day. We have posted at least three constables for Kalamboli circle to manage its traffic in peak hours. We will also discuss other ways to manage traffic and unravel the situation.”
