Orphans, affected with with deadly diseases, thrown out of home and socially backward lives are all around our surroundings. The scope of this problem is too big for any one person or organization to solve, but we can join forces to make a difference. PR. Manoj Magar, a resident of Kharghar, is such a force determined to wash tears from the eyes of orphans and destitute.

By creating a Home called Ashalaya, he is engaged in reaching out to the street/slim children, sheltering the orphans. He is also ministering to commercial sex workers & their innocent children, caring for widows, HIV+ affected families &their  Children and empowering lives.

In 1995, during his school life, he was passing near to a Garbage dumping ground in Chembur. He saw some Children, dwellers of slum, rushing to the dumping ground and searching for food inside wastes. This experience made a profound and lasting impact in his life and he was shocked to see the living conditions of the poor in his society. But a son of BMC officer was not in a condition to help them. He waited for more than 10 years to build up his home for those who are in need.

In 2006, Started his journey and did what others could only wish to do. This journey can be explained in his own words as “Amazing and Miraculous”. He started with 933 rupees, which was collected in his coin box and now takes care of 65 people including 46 Children, widows and destitute.

Crossing hurdles and obstacles are heavily common in his life. “There were many circumstances, when we thought of stopping all activities, as we discouraged and stuck with obstacles” Said Manoj. A team of dedicated youths helping Manoj in his mission, called Team Hope.

While surveying the red light areas, he felt the need to reach out to the commercial sex worker community and specifically their innocent children, who are being constantly bombarded with all the evil influence, sexual immorality, prostitution all around them.

PR. Manoj formed a programme, called the Hope centre, an outreach for red light community and their children. This program focuses to bring educational & moral awareness, reach their mothers and in turn aim to transform the community with God’s Love.  “We teach & feed them a proper nutritious meal daily. We hope that through these acts of compassion, we can reach out to the children and theneighbouring slum families” said Manoj.

PR. Manoj has started “Care Home” to take care of HIV affected children.

It is estimated that India has the largest number of AIDS orphans of any country…..and this number is expected to double in the next five years.

The rapid spread of HIV/AIDS in India is a cause for great and increasing concern. In the growing scenario of HIV+ affected families, the little innocent children are left behind, as the parents die of AIDS, the tragedy worsens, when many are infected with hiv+ since birth without any fault of their’s.

If so, in many cases knowing the child being HIV+, none of the relatives would dare to care for them and this leaves such children with tremendous rejection, fear, loneliness, starvation and ultimately death.  “Care Home, provides many of such innocent little lives, a touch of love, compassion & genuine care until the end oftheir life journey” said Manoj.

When passion and dedication met with hard work, to bring Hope in the hopeless lives, working towards the cause of the poor, needy, neglected, deprived, abandoned, lives without hope, he is striving to make a difference in one life at a time.

He is the father of two children and his wife is active in supporting his mission.
