Acting as a catalyst for Craftsmen, Weavers and Artisans around the Country to sell their products directly, CIDCO Urban Haat prepares a traditional treat for Urban Societies. Located over a small hill near to CBD Belapur Railway Station, provides a unique blend of nature and development. Artisans from all over India are able to showcase their talents and get profit out of it. Inaugurated in 2009, conducted several exhibitions and success stories, remains a milestone for Navi Mumbai.
Over the years, Urban Haat has become an attractive spot for Navi Mumbai residents, who find traditional food, cultural events and clothes from all over the country near to their residential area. These Success stories have provided a huge popularity for Urban Haat in a small span of time.
As Part of Central government policy, Urban Haat gave perfect platform for Artisans to sell their products at reasonable rates avoiding middle agencies. Institution is receiving a huge response for conducting programs that are unique and traditional for urban societies of Navi Mumbai.
It has recently hosted a National level Special handloom Expo, is the latest example for its success. It has showcased traditional dress materials, decorating materials from different 15 states of the country. Sarees from Kanjeevaram and Shawls from Kashmir were the major attraction of Expo.
Madura Gwaikad, a resident of Kharghar and regular visitor, says “Urban Haat is Unique in terms of its location as well as programs, as it provides a taste of traditional culture and beauty of nature. I found it as a perfect place to buy special gifts for my friends and family”
John Wilson, a resident of Vashi, says “I appreciate the organizers of this Urban Haat for their vision to nurture the very culture and talents of our artists and weavers from various parts of the country. We found it good, as it provides quality products in reasonable rates.”
Aruna Kumar, a resident of Nerul, says “I got surprised with the wide variety of Sarees that designed from various part of our country. Shantipuri Sarees from Madhya Pradesh was best of them. I also brought woolen blankets from here.”
Baiginad Prasad, a trading organizer came from New Delhi, says it is for the first time have organized to trade in Navi Mumbai, we got a good response. We are eager to do the same in next year also.”
K.S.V. Nair, manager of CIDCO Urban Haat, says we thank public and media for its cooperation into our efforts to promote handloom and handicrafts Artisans all over the country. All programs till conducted got good response and we also plan for bigger events here, as we got regular programs for this year”
This year Urban Haat is about to conduct regular programs such as Makar Sankarant Mela, from 8 to 28 of this month, Craft Bazar, Vasant Mela, Chaitra Mela and Summer festival.
